The Forum of State Chairmen of the Accord Party has dismissed circulating reports that the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem, was suspended.
In a statement issued by the party’s spokesperson and Ogun State Chairman, Oke Rotimi, and shared with newsmen in Osogbo by Osun State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, the forum described the suspension claims as “fake news.”
Rotimi clarified that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had received a vote of confidence earlier this month, and at no point was any disciplinary action taken against Mr. Mgbudem.
He said, “It should be noted that we had a National Executive Committee meeting on December 3, 2025, wherein a vote of confidence was passed on the National Chairman and the entire National Working Committee. At no stage was there any form of disciplinary action against Mr. Mgbudem, as has been widely reported. Accord remains a law-abiding and constitutionally guided party. No person can bring chaos among us via baseless allegations.”
The statement added that individuals behind the suspension rumors had previously been expelled from the party for anti-party activities and would not be allowed to disrupt its operations.
Separately, Pastor Akande confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke formally joined Accord on November 6, 2025, and was publicly welcomed into the party on December 9, 2025, before emerging as the party’s governorship candidate during the primaries on December 10, 2025.
