Accord Party Crisis Predates Adeleke’s Defection — Imumolen

0

Former presidential aspirant of the Accord Party, Prof. Christopher Imumolen, has revealed that the party’s internal crisis existed long before the defection of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Imumolen made the disclosure on Monday during an interview on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television, monitored by DAILY POST, while reacting to the ongoing political wranglings within the party.

According to him, the leadership of the Accord Party has been grappling with internal disputes for some time, stressing that the issues did not begin with Adeleke’s reported move to the party.

“I have been fighting this battle before now. I went to court, and that is a sign of the struggle. We have had serious issues at the party secretariat, where we confronted and addressed our challenges,” Imumolen said.

He explained that many of the party’s internal problems were deliberately kept away from the public to protect its image.

“Sometimes, we choose not to make our internal issues public. But these fights have been ongoing. If you check several publications, I have granted many interviews where I spoke about these issues,” he added.

Imumolen insisted that the party leadership remains firmly in control, regardless of recent political developments.

“Whether Adeleke came or not, we are in charge of the party. What we are doing now is to save the face of the Accord Party and ensure that, whatever happens, the party remains intact,” he stated.

The comments come amid heightened attention on the Accord Party following reports of internal divisions and high-profile political movements.
