Abiodun Secures Fresh Global Partnerships in China to Boost Ogun’s Industrial, Digital Growth

Ogun State is the first to receive the first batch of vaccines among the comity of states in the country.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has intensified the state’s international investment drive with a series of strategic meetings in China aimed at expanding Ogun’s industrial base and strengthening its position as Nigeria’s digital innovation hub.

A statement issued by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media & Strategy, confirmed that Governor Abiodun and his economic team met with Inspur, a leading IT firm in Shandong Province. Discussions focused on collaborations that would promote knowledge exchange, strengthen Ogun Tech Hub, and accelerate the state’s digital economy.

“We are determined to translate these conversations into meaningful collaborations that will drive innovation and create new opportunities for our people,” the Governor said.

The delegation also hosted Mrs. Linshuang Zhang (Esther), Chairman of Royal Ceramic, whose factory operates in Sagamu. She commended the Abiodun-led administration for creating a business-friendly environment through infrastructure development, security improvements, and investor-focused policies.

In addition, the Governor secured a $50 million investment commitment from Lee Group. The company, Nigeria’s market leader in detergents, is expanding operations in Ogun State and establishing two food processing factories for exports to the U.S. and Europe. The move, Abiodun said, “underscores the global confidence in products made in Ogun State and reinforces our drive for export-led industrialization.”

Governor Abiodun also met with Shandong Province Governor, Zhou Naixiang, to rekindle the Shandong-Ogun Economic and Trade Partnership under the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, following agreements reached between Presidents Bola Tinubu and Xi Jinping at the 2024 FOCAC Summit. Discussions covered agriculture, manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, and human capital development.

On Saturday, Abiodun held talks with Wang Xinsheng, Mayor of Rizhao, a coastal Chinese city renowned for its thriving port economy. Central to the discussions was the Olokola Deep Sea Port project, which Abiodun described as “the future of Ogun’s industrial and maritime positioning.” He noted that Rizhao’s expertise could help transform the project into a world-class facility, positioning the state as Nigeria’s leading trade gateway.

The Governor also highlighted Ogun’s rich mineral deposits and pledged partnerships with reputable global firms for exploration and value addition. Beyond commerce, he emphasized cultural and educational exchanges with Rizhao to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen people-to-people relations.

“These engagements mark another milestone in our drive to position Ogun as Nigeria’s industrial capital and a prime destination for global partnerships,” Abiodun said.
