Prophet Babatunde Ayodele has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against going ahead with the October 1 Independence Day parade, warning that there could be danger if the event holds.
In a video shared on X ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary celebration, the cleric said: “October 1st, President Tinubu should cancel the parade. If he attempts to go ahead with it, there is danger in it.”
Ayodele did not say what form the danger might take.
Beyond the parade, the cleric turned his attention to the 2027 general election, urging Nigerians not to accept gifts or inducements from politicians in exchange for their votes.
“Don’t collect anything from any politician because of the election. Vote your conscience. Vote for the right people. Vote for people who will truly serve the interest of the people,” he said.
He encouraged voters to choose candidates based on conscience and on who they believe will genuinely serve the public interest.
Ayodele also called on Nigerians to remain prayerful and vigilant as the country marks its independence.
