The Zamfara State chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has strongly condemned the alleged attack on its 2027 presidential candidate, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, describing the incident as a direct attack on Nigeria’s democratic values.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Gusau, the party’s State Chairman, Shehu Hussaini Waziri, said the incident occurred on Saturday during a burial ceremony at Ekusa in Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.
Waziri alleged that the attack was a deliberate attempt to intimidate opposition parties and weaken democratic participation.
“This cowardly act is a direct assault on democracy and an attempt to intimidate the opposition,” he said.
The party called on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are identified and prosecuted.
Despite the alleged attack, Waziri said Omoaje and his supporters remain committed to promoting justice, peaceful coexistence, and national development.
He also urged party members and supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while allowing security agencies to conduct their investigations.
Reaffirming the importance of protecting political actors, Waziri stressed that ensuring the safety of politicians and citizens alike is vital to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.
