Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the South-East should move away from what he described as “wasting votes.”
Soludo made the declaration on Monday during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally held in Ebonyi State, where he called for greater political alignment between the South-East and the country’s mainstream political direction.
Speaking at the event, the governor said progressive political forces were increasingly working together in the interest of national unity and regional development.
He urged the people of the South-East to embrace strategic political engagement rather than remain on the sidelines.
“No more wasting of votes again. I’m endorsing President Tinubu for a second term. I stand in solidarity because progressives are working together. Igbos should not waste their vote again,” Soludo stated.
The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) also reflected on the South-East’s long-standing voting pattern, noting that the region had traditionally served as a strong support base for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in efforts to strengthen its relevance at the federal level.
His remarks signal a notable political position ahead of the 2027 elections and add to ongoing conversations about political realignments across the South-East.
