Tinubu Sends Shettima to Benin for Wadagni’s Presidential Inauguration

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Cotonou, the capital of Benin, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Romuald Wadagni.

The development was disclosed on Saturday in a statement issued by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President.

According to the statement, the inauguration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Sunday, May 24, at the Presidential Palace in Cotonou, with several African leaders and international dignitaries expected to attend.

Nkwocha noted that Nigeria and Benin maintain longstanding historical, socio-cultural, and economic relations, with both countries continuing to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as border security, regional trade, and energy collaboration.

He added that Vice President Shettima is accompanied by senior aides and top government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the official engagement in Benin.
