A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aisha Yesufu, has claimed that the growing alliance among opposition leaders is causing concern within the camp of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 2027 general elections approach.
In a post shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Yesufu alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) did not anticipate the current level of political alignment taking shape within the opposition, particularly under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
She stated that the emerging coalition has unsettled the President and his allies, suggesting a heightened level of anxiety compared to the build-up to the 2023 elections.
“Mr Tinubu and his people are very scared — more scared than they were in 2022,” Yesufu wrote.
She further noted that the scale of cooperation among key opposition figures was unforeseen by the ruling party, adding that efforts may be made to undermine the momentum.
“The alignment that has happened and is still happening is one that they never envisioned happening. So, they will do everything they can to discourage you. Ignore them and do your thing,” she added.
Her remarks come amid increasing political maneuvering and coalition-building among opposition stakeholders ahead of the next electoral cycle.
