The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to unite in confronting the nation’s growing insecurity challenges.
In his Easter message to Christians across the country, Yilwatda emphasized the need to embrace the enduring values of sacrifice, hope, peace, love, and national unity. He described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolizing the redemptive sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
According to him, the season is not only for celebration but also a time for deep reflection on faith, resilience, forgiveness, humility, and hope in the face of adversity.
“Easter teaches that sacrifice leads to glory, that suffering is not the end, and that faith in God can restore hope even in difficult times,” he said.
Yilwatda noted that the message of Easter remains relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the resurrection narrative while remaining steadfast in faith and patriotism despite prevailing challenges.
He also encouraged Christians to recommit to righteous living, compassion, unity, prayer, and service, stressing that the nation needs individuals who demonstrate their faith through action in both public and private life.
The APC chairman expressed concern over rising insecurity across different parts of the country, extending sympathy to victims of violence, banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping. He described the losses suffered by Nigerians as a collective national tragedy and called for greater collaboration among citizens and institutions to restore peace.
“In times like these, we must not allow fear or division to define us. We must stand united, support lawful efforts, and remain committed to restoring safety and order,” he added.
Yilwatda acknowledged ongoing efforts by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address insecurity and stabilize the country, citing strategic interventions and reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture.
He further called for sustained cooperation among all levels of government, security agencies, community leaders, and faith-based organisations to ensure lasting peace and justice.
The APC chairman urged Nigerians to use the Easter period for prayers for the nation, its leaders, and security personnel, expressing optimism that with faith, responsible leadership, and collective commitment, Nigeria will overcome its challenges.
He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful Easter celebration and encouraged all Nigerians to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and committed to building a secure and united nation.
