The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to proceed to the Supreme Court if they wish to continue the ongoing legal battle over the party’s leadership crisis.
Wike issued the warning on Monday after his faction secured victories in nine separate appeals filed by the rival group backed by Seyi Makinde.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja dismissed the appeals brought by the faction led by Taminu Turaki, effectively affirming earlier rulings that favoured Wike’s camp in the prolonged dispute within the opposition party.
In its decision, the appellate court also upheld the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 31, 2025. The lower court had restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 National Convention.
Reacting to the judgment, Wike described the ruling as an opportunity for reconciliation within the party but warned that further legal action could worsen the situation.
“Today’s judgment is an opportunity for the PDP to reconcile, but if they decide to go to the Supreme Court, it won’t augur well for the party,” Wike said.
He added that his faction remains prepared for any further legal contest.
“If they insist on going to the Supreme Court, we’ll be ready for them. We won all nine appeals against them today in court, and each comes with a cost of N2 million, totalling N18 million against them,” he stated.
