2027: Obidient Movement Urges ADC to Zone Presidential Ticket to South

0

As political activities gather pace ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Regional Colligate Coordinator of the Obidient Movement in the South-South, Onochie Osheokwu, has called on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to zone its presidential ticket to the southern region of the country.

Osheokwu made the appeal on Monday during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST.

He argued that zoning the ticket to the South would align with prevailing political sentiments and reflect the expectations of many Nigerians. According to him, the Obidient Movement believes the most suitable candidate for the presidency is evident, describing the individual as one who represents the conscience of the movement and the kind of leadership Nigerians are seeking.

While he did not make a direct endorsement during the interview, Osheokwu referenced the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who hails from the South-East, noting that he remains a prominent figure within the broader southern political landscape.

Commenting on recent political consultations, including a meeting involving former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Osheokwu dismissed speculations surrounding the gathering. He described it as a routine consultation, adding that Nigerian politics has increasingly been dominated by propaganda rather than substantive engagement with the country’s pressing challenges.

His remarks come amid growing discussions within political parties as they strategise for the 2027 polls.
