A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on Garaha District in Hong Local Government Area, describing it as a direct assault on the stability and future of the entire Northeast region.
The attack, allegedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, February 22, 2026, reportedly claimed the lives of three persons, including soldiers and a civilian woman. Military and school facilities in the village were also set ablaze during the incident.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by his publicity secretary, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, Haske described the killings and destruction as a painful tragedy and a stark reminder that forces of extremism continue to threaten progress in the region.
He, however, commended the bravery and sacrifice of Nigerian troops who defended the community, noting that their commitment reflects a deep sense of patriotism and service to the nation.
Haske reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to safeguarding lives and rebuilding affected communities, stressing that security remains central to the party’s broader agenda of peace, stability, and inclusive development.
He also lauded ongoing security reforms and coordination efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, saying improved synergy among security agencies is strengthening counter-insurgency operations across the Northeast.
According to him, the APC-led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda prioritises security, rural development, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic expansion—critical pillars for defeating extremism and restoring lasting peace.
Addressing residents of frontline local government areas including Hong, Gombi, Song, Mubi, Michika, and Madagali, Haske urged communities to remain calm and vigilant. He encouraged citizens to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies and local leaders.
He further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, hunters, vigilante networks, and civil society organisations to intensify grassroots security collaboration and strengthen community watch efforts to prevent criminal infiltration.
Emphasising unity beyond ethnic, religious, and political divisions, Haske stated that protecting lives and securing the future of Adamawa State must remain a collective responsibility.
He assured residents that the APC stands firmly with the people of Adamawa and remains committed to reconstruction, social protection, and development initiatives aimed at restoring livelihoods and strengthening community resilience.
