President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors, deputy governors and senior government officials at a Ramadan Iftar dinner held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The annual gathering, now in its third consecutive year under the Tinubu administration, brought together political leaders from across the country to break their fast with the President as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan.
Among the governors in attendance were Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Usman Ododo of Kogi State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Mohammed Bago of Niger State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also present.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several cabinet ministers attended the event.
The Iftar forms part of President Tinubu’s Ramadan tradition of engaging political leaders and senior officials in an atmosphere of reflection and unity during the fasting period.
At the 2025 edition of the gathering, the President urged governors and ministers to place greater emphasis on the welfare of citizens, encouraging them to “do more for your people.” He stressed the importance of national unity, describing Nigeria as one large family living under the same roof, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
President Tinubu is expected to host additional Iftar meetings with senior government officials, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic corps before the conclusion of Ramadan.
