Abuja, Nigeria – The leader of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Igboayaka, has projected that the 2027 general elections could mark a major turning point in Nigeria’s political landscape, describing it as a potential “ballot revolution” driven by active voter participation, particularly among the youth.
Speaking on civic engagement and electoral responsibility, Igboayaka called on Igbo youths to remain politically active through lawful democratic processes, emphasizing the importance of using their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to demand accountability from elected officials.
He also advised pro-Biafran and youth groups to direct their grievances toward constructive political action rather than violence, urging organized civic participation as the most effective tool for driving development and progress in Igboland.
“The power of the electorate lies in organized participation at polling units and collation centres,” Igboayaka said, stressing the need for young voters to reject electoral malpractice and resist inducements from politicians.
Highlighting the role of collective action, he concluded that sustained civic engagement remains the key to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring that the voices of youths are central in shaping the nation’s future ahead of the 2027 elections.
