Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – Traditional rulers and kinsmen of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, have called for fairness and adherence to the rule of law, describing her decade-long legal saga as “delayed justice and baseless vilification.”
The appeal was made yesterday at a media briefing in Yenagoa under the aegis of the Concerned Traditional Rulers of Atissa Clan, who reaffirmed their unwavering support for the former minister.
Speaking on behalf of the group, HRH Ovie Omeleh, Paramount Ruler of Yenaka, emphasized that Alison-Madueke has faced over ten years of investigations in the United Kingdom without any convictions in Nigeria or abroad. “It is time for this protracted separation to end,” he said.
The royal fathers stressed that a fair and orderly conclusion is long overdue. “For more than a decade, our daughter has lived under the weight of prolonged legal scrutiny. Yet the central fact remains: Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has not been convicted of any crime in the world’s most powerful nations,” they stated.
Describing Alison-Madueke as “a cherished member of our royal lineage and a pillar of the Atissa Kingdom,” the group urged that the narrative surrounding her be corrected to reflect her contributions to both the state and the nation.
“We call for a resolution that returns to the truth of her achievements. The Atissa people are patient, but we are also just. We will continue to stand by our daughter,” HRH Omeleh added.
