Abuja, Nigeria – A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has revealed that the late former President Muhammadu Buhari played a decisive role in ensuring Abba Kabir Yusuf became governor of Kano State. Speaking on Arise News, Galadima, Secretary of the NNPP Board of Trustees, said Buhari acted to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from overturning the party’s victory in 2023, a repeat of alleged interference in 2019.
“Unknown to many Nigerians, it was General Buhari who took our victory in 2019 and gave it to Ganduje. General Buhari was the architect of making Abba Kabir Yusuf governor of Kano State,” Galadima said.
He added that Buhari’s intervention was motivated by resentment toward former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who had publicly insulted the late president. “Buhari put down his feet and said, ‘that boy won election in 2019, we took it away. Now he won again, give him his victory.’ You see how God works?” he said.
Galadima also criticized Abba Yusuf for aligning with the APC, claiming that doing so undermined divine justice and questioned his reliance on God’s ability to protect electoral victories.
“The courts could not be used as an alibi to injustice this time. Through due legal process and with Buhari’s assistance, Abba Yusuf was made governor,” Galadima explained.
He warned that similar interference could occur in the 2027 elections if party members forsake principles for political convenience, stressing that divine justice should not be abandoned for human promises.
