Presidency Dismisses Health Concerns as Tinubu Continues Türkiye State Visit

0

The Presidency has dismissed speculation about President Bola Tinubu’s health, affirming that he is hale and hearty and proceeding with his scheduled state visit to Türkiye as planned.

The clarification was given on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Mr Sunday Dare, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to Dare, President Tinubu moved seamlessly from the ceremonial reception in Ankara to scheduled bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other top government officials.

“President Tinubu, after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara, proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with the President of Türkiye and other senior government officials,” the Presidency stated.

The discussions are focused on strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation in key areas including defence and security, trade and investment, energy, and broader economic development.

The Presidency noted that the successful commencement of the visit reflects the growing ties between Nigeria and Türkiye and highlights Nigeria’s renewed diplomatic engagement under President Tinubu’s administration.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Mr Bayo Onanuga also addressed public enquiries regarding the President’s wellbeing following a brief incident during the visit.

Onanuga explained that the President merely lost his balance momentarily after stepping on an object on the floor.

“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” Onanuga said, adding that the incident was minor.

“It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall,” he stressed, dismissing attempts to sensationalise the situation.

The Presidency urged Nigerians to ignore misleading narratives, reaffirming that President Tinubu remains fit, healthy, and fully engaged in the official programme of his Türkiye visit.
