The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has reacted strongly to comments credited to former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in which he allegedly described Ganduje as his political enemy.
Kwankwaso was reported to have made the remark amid growing political tension in Kano State, following speculations and controversies surrounding Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s possible defection to the APC.
In a statement posted on his official social media platforms, Ganduje expressed shock and disappointment over the alleged comment, insisting that he has never regarded Kwankwaso as an enemy.
“I was shocked and saddened when I heard my bosom friend, Rabiu Kwankwaso, referring to me as his ‘enemy’,” Ganduje said.
“At no point did I see him as an enemy. We have gone too far beyond this,” he added.
The former APC National Chairman stressed the need for unity in Kano State, urging political leaders to rise above personal and partisan differences for the good of the people.
“I think there is no better time for a united Kano than now. I urge him to calm down with politics and take it easy with himself,” Ganduje said.
The exchange comes at a time of heightened political realignments in Kano, with both leaders remaining influential figures in the state’s deeply divided political landscape. Observers say the public disagreement could further shape the dynamics ahead of future elections in the state.
