U.S. Delivers Military Aid to Nigeria as AFRICOM Boosts Security Partnership

The United States has delivered a fresh batch of military supplies to Nigerian security agencies, strengthening ongoing efforts to combat insecurity across the country.

The delivery was confirmed by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a post on X on Tuesday. According to the statement, U.S. forces handed over the equipment to Nigerian partners in Abuja as part of continued security cooperation between both countries.

“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM stated.

Nigeria has in recent months witnessed a surge in violent attacks, particularly in the North-West and North-Central regions, where banditry, kidnappings, and terrorist activities have intensified, leaving hundreds abducted and communities under threat.

The latest delivery comes weeks after U.S. forces carried out airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in North-West Nigeria on Christmas Day, in what officials described as a coordinated effort to weaken extremist and criminal networks operating in the region.

The renewed U.S. support signals a deepening of military and intelligence collaboration with Nigeria as the country struggles to contain growing security challenges.
