The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has significantly improved the welfare and economic prospects of the Igbo people.
Arodiogbu made the remarks during an interview on ARISE Television on Monday while reacting to the recent APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Enugu, which was aimed at building support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has created a more enabling environment for commerce, manufacturing, agriculture and general business activities — sectors where many Igbo people are deeply invested.
“Igbos are hard-working people. We have assessed the welfare of our people and we have seen that our lot is better in so many areas under the Tinubu administration,” he said.
He explained that the Igbo culture places strong emphasis on evaluating the wellbeing of the community, noting that such an assessment showed noticeable improvements in economic opportunities and security.
“My people are business people. They need an enabling environment, and this administration has provided that in the sense of commerce and manufacturing, which is what we are mostly known for,” Arodiogbu stated.
He cited examples from business owners who have benefited from government policies, including a pharmaceutical manufacturer and an agricultural entrepreneur, both of whom, he said, confirmed receiving unprecedented levels of support from the current administration.
Arodiogbu also pointed to improved security across the South-East, especially during the Christmas period, noting that people were able to travel and celebrate freely without the fear that had previously disrupted the region.
“We all went home this Christmas. The incidents that were being promoted by those trying to de-market our party did not happen. There was security, people moved around, and that is what our people want,” he said.
He added that the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Enugu was not limited to party leaders but included traditional rulers, trade unions and other key community stakeholders, describing it as a broad consultation on the political and economic future of the region.
Arodiogbu maintained that the improving business climate, agricultural support and enhanced security under President Tinubu were key reasons why many in the South-East were increasingly backing the administration ahead of 2027.
