Renowned global boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Makun area of Ogun State.
The crash occurred on a busy stretch of the highway, just before Danco Filling Station near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound lane. The vehicle conveying Joshua reportedly collided with another car under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Joshua was said to have sustained minor injuries in the incident. However, two persons reportedly lost their lives at the scene of the crash.
As of the time of filing this report, attempts to reach the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Commandant, Akinbiyi Babatunde, for further details were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone did not connect.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, acknowledged the crash and said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
More details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their inquiries.
