The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over comments criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe. The party described the ADC’s reaction as “noise, misinformation, and pedestrian politics.”
APC Lagos spokesman Mogaji Seye Oladejo, in a statement, emphasized that modern leadership requires engagement with global partners, investors, and strategic allies. He said President Tinubu’s visit was aimed at advancing Nigeria’s economic interests, strengthening bilateral relations, attracting investment, and enhancing the country’s international standing—not mere sightseeing as the opposition suggests.
“Only the intellectually lazy would assume that leadership is confined to physical presence within national borders,” Oladejo said. “President Tinubu governs with intent, structure, and continuity. The machinery of government remains firmly in motion at all times, driven by clear policy direction, delegated authority, and institutional strength.”
The APC spokesperson criticized the ADC for focusing on the President’s travel schedule instead of offering concrete policies, calling it a party “still struggling to understand the demands of modern governance.” He added that many of those now expressing outrage had previously supported foreign trips that brought little benefit to Nigeria.
Oladejo concluded by stressing that Nigerians can see the difference between a President actively engaging both domestically and internationally and an opposition “trapped in the politics of distraction and cheap headline-chasing.” He urged the ADC to provide meaningful alternatives rather than “recycled outrage and shallow theatrics,” noting that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” remains a process requiring bold domestic reforms and purposeful international engagement.
