Osun 2026: I Have No Rival, APC Is United Behind Me — Oyebamiji

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has declared himself the man to beat, insisting that he faces no real competition ahead of the August 8, 2026 poll.

Oyebamiji made the declaration on Saturday while addressing party members and supporters at the annual prayer organised by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society in Ikire.

Speaking confidently at the event, the former Osun State Commissioner for Finance said the APC is solidly united behind his candidacy and optimistic about reclaiming the state from the ruling party.

“We believe strongly that by the special grace of God, come August 8, 2026, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji will become the governor of Osun State,” he said.

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) also hinted at massive electoral support from his local government area, describing it as a decisive force in the forthcoming election.

“I want to assure you that you will be surprised by what will come from this local government during the election,” Oyebamiji stated.

Reiterating his confidence, he maintained that the presence of other aspirants or candidates does not unsettle him.

“I am very optimistic about winning the governorship election. I have said it several times in different fora that I, Bola Oyebamiji, don’t have a competitor.

“Bola Oyebamiji is going to win the governorship election come August 8, 2026,” he added.

Oyebamiji also aligned his ambition with the zoning argument, insisting that the next governor of Osun State should emerge from the Osun West Senatorial District, a description he said fits him perfectly.

Despite his strong rhetoric, the APC flagbearer pledged to run a focused and issue-based campaign, ruling out political attacks on opponents.

“I don’t like attacking people. I have always been focused, and I want to remain focused on the assignment before me, which is winning the governorship election next year,” he said.

On party unity, Oyebamiji disclosed that a recent stakeholders’ meeting convened by APC elder statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, resolved lingering differences within the party and reaffirmed collective support for his candidacy.

“The agreement was aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election,” he noted.

In his sermon at the event, the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen, Ikire Land, Badmus Monsuru Adekunle, described Oyebamiji’s emergence as APC candidate as a divine endorsement, citing his widespread goodwill across Osun State.

Adekunle added that the anticipated victory represents the will of the people of Osun, particularly those who believe in progressive governance founded on justice, equity and sustainable development.
