The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has unveiled four dedicated telephone lines for residents to report cases of uncleared refuse across the Federal Capital Territory, in a renewed push to address Abuja’s mounting waste management challenges.

The development was announced in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to strengthen oversight and ensure that waste management contractors discharge their duties promptly and efficiently.

“The FCTA has made four telephone numbers available to residents to report incidents of uncleared refuse in their areas,” Olayinka said.

He encouraged residents to send clear pictures and videos of refuse that has not been evacuated to the designated numbers via WhatsApp, emphasizing the need for precise location details to aid swift intervention.

“Residents are advised to clearly state the exact locations of the refuse so that the contractors responsible for those areas can be easily identified and held accountable,” he added.

The telephone numbers provided for reporting are 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710, and 09114843425.

Olayinka explained that the move is part of the FCTA’s broader strategy to improve environmental sanitation, enforce accountability among waste management service providers, and promote a cleaner capital city.

The FCTA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment in the nation’s capital and called on residents to actively support the initiative by promptly reporting sanitation issues when they arise.
