Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking his official defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A photograph shared by Tony Okocha, media aide to the state APC chairman, captured the moment the governor placed his thumbprint in the party’s register during a brief ceremony held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday.
Governor Fubara had earlier declared his intention to join the APC on Tuesday, describing the move as a decision taken in the best interest of the people of Rivers State. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he credited for ensuring he remains in office amid the political crisis in the state.
The registration now solidifies Fubara’s shift to the ruling party, signaling a new phase in Rivers State’s political landscape.
