Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the payment of outstanding salaries and minimum wage arrears owed to staff of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
The governor made the announcement on Monday while inaugurating the hospital’s governing board at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Makinde assured that the state government would soon resolve the lingering issues that led LAUTECH lecturers to embark on strike, adding that his administration remains committed to strengthening the institution.
He also issued a firm directive to the newly inaugurated board, charging them to ensure that the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Complex in Oyo becomes fully functional within the next 12 months.
“One request that I have before this Board is that the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Complex, Oyo, must be totally revamped. It should be operational within 12 months,” he said.
The governor explained that although the project was initially expected to be part of a French grant, it was later excluded. He, however, promised that the state would take full responsibility for its execution.
“I will be available to provide and give any kind of support that you may require,” he assured, declaring the project a special 12-month priority for his administration.
