70% of Tinubu’s Allies Once Opposed Him — Presidential Aide, Daniel Bwala

President Bola Tinubu’s Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has revealed that nearly 70 percent of individuals currently working closely with the President had, at some point, opposed him politically.

Bwala made the disclosure on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, while reacting to criticism that some nominees on the ambassadorial list allegedly insulted or worked against Tinubu in the past.

He explained that the Presidency is deliberately keeping a low profile until the National Assembly concludes the confirmation process, in order not to influence or prejudice lawmakers.

According to him, political decisions are often based on discretion, and Tinubu’s leadership style accommodates even those who once stood against him.

“Those who understand politics know the environment is toxic. Leaders must decide whether to work with people who opposed them or not,” Bwala said.

He added that Tinubu’s forgiving nature stems from lessons learned from his late mother, who, as a leader of market women, advised against holding grudges.

“More than 70 percent of people around him today worked against him at some point,” Bwala stated. “When I first met him last January, I tried to apologize, but he told me there was no need. He said his mother taught him that if you get angry with everyone who offends you, one day you’ll wake up with no one left to lead.”

Bwala emphasized that this philosophy guides Tinubu’s inclusive approach to governance, even when dealing with former political adversaries.
