The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has slated December 6 for its primary election ahead of the 2026 local government polls.

State Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, announced the timetable on Wednesday during a press briefing in Lokoja, unveiling key activities leading up to the party’s selection of candidates.

According to Bello, the expression of interest form will cost N500,000, while the nomination form is fixed at N2 million. However, women and Persons With Disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form.

Forms will be available for purchase at the State Party Secretariat from November 27 to December 1. Completed forms are expected to be submitted between December 2 and 3.

Screening of aspirants and publication of the list of qualified contenders will take place on December 4, while appeals and release of the final list, after dispute resolution, are scheduled for December 5.

Bello reiterated the party’s commitment to a transparent and credible process, stressing that all contestants will be given a level playing field in line with the timetable set by the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC).

“Our party is committed to a credible process devoid of rancour. We encourage every aspirant to advance their dreams by strictly following the guidelines provided by the APC and SIEC. No one will be sidelined,” he said.

He also appreciated the continued loyalty of party members and residents to the administration of Governor Ahmed Ododo, noting that their support remains central to the party’s successes.

Bello assured that the APC-led government would continue delivering democratic dividends across the state, irrespective of political differences, and called for calm, unity and peaceful participation as the primary election approaches.

The KOSIEC Chairman, Mamman Nda-Eri, had earlier announced October 17, 2026, as the date for the local government elections in the state.
