Renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has died.

Reports of his passing began circulating early Thursday, and the news was later confirmed by a former presidential aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, in a post on X. Ahmad described the development as heartbreaking, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of one of Nigeria’s most influential Tijjaniyya leaders.

“It is with a heavy heart and complete submission to the will of Allah (SAW) that we receive the news of the passing of our revered leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his noble deeds and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen,” Ahmad wrote.

The cleric’s son, Sayyadi Ali Dahiru Usman Bauchi, also confirmed the death to Daily Trust, noting that the family is grateful for the long and impactful life the Sheikh lived.

“It is confirmed. Sheikh has returned to his Creator. We are all from Allah and to Him we shall all return. Sheikh’s life was well spent. Alhamdulillah,” he said.
He added that burial arrangements have yet to be finalised, as he is currently in Madinah. According to him, the interment may take place in Abuja or Bauchi.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the family nor the Bauchi State Government has issued an official statement.
