Tinubu Reshuffles NIWA, NEITI Leadership to Boost Transparency and Reforms

0

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved significant leadership changes in two strategic federal agencies — the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) — as part of efforts to deepen transparency, strengthen accountability, and enhance service delivery across key sectors.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

According to the statement, Musa Sarkin Adar has been redeployed from his role as Chairman of NIWA to assume duties as the new Executive Secretary of NEITI. In his place, President Tinubu appointed Mukhtar Shehu Shagari as the new Chairman of NIWA.

Both appointments take immediate effect.

The President charged the newly appointed leaders to discharge their duties with patriotism, integrity, and professionalism. He urged them to leverage their expertise to accelerate ongoing reforms and deliver improved governance within their agencies.

Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions responsible for ensuring transparency in the extractive sector and efficiency in Nigeria’s inland waterways.

The shake-up marks another step in the President’s broader push to reposition key government agencies for better performance and accountability.
