ADC, NCP Forge Alliance to Challenge Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Conscience Party (NCP) have announced a new electoral alliance aimed at mounting a formidable challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The alliance was unveiled on Monday at a press briefing addressed by NCP Lagos Chairman, Chief Fatai Ibu-Owo, ADC National Secretary and former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and other senior party officials.

The coalition leaders warned that Nigeria is slipping deeper into crisis under the APC-led administration, accusing the government of mismanaging the economy and failing to address worsening insecurity.

They drew attention to escalating inflation, widespread poverty, and the economic strain resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies — a policy that has pushed petrol prices to historic highs. According to them, the burden on ordinary Nigerians has become unbearable, leaving the nation “bleeding at the heart.”

On security, the ADC–NCP bloc condemned what they described as a collapse of law and order, citing rampant kidnapping, rural banditry, and growing violations of civil liberties. They argued that the government’s inability to protect its citizens has led to needless loss of lives across the country.

The alliance further accused the APC government of undermining democratic institutions and stifling dissent, warning that such actions threaten Nigeria’s democratic stability.

Calling for grassroots mobilization, community organising, and support for independent media, the coalition urged Nigerians to prepare for what they termed a “democratic handover” in 2027. In a direct message to the presidency and ruling party, the leaders declared: “Your time is coming.”

The ADC–NCP partnership says it is now building nationwide momentum for what it describes as a project of “national renewal.”
