President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State, as a minister in his cabinet.
The President’s request for Ude’s screening and confirmation was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative consideration and screening.
Ude’s nomination comes weeks after the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who previously represented Enugu State in the Federal Executive Council.
Nnaji stepped down amid controversy surrounding his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials, which reportedly raised questions about their authenticity.
His exit left Enugu State without ministerial representation, creating a vacuum that President Tinubu’s latest nomination now seeks to fill.
If confirmed by the Senate, Kingsley Ude will join the administration as part of Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen his cabinet and ensure balanced representation across Nigeria’s states.
