JUST IN: Police Declare Sowore Wanted

The Lagos State Police Command has declared activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, wanted for allegedly plotting to incite public disorder and obstruct major roads across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, made the disclosure on Monday while briefing journalists at the Iyana-Oworo section of the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to him, the police had received credible intelligence indicating that Sowore and some of his associates were coordinating plans to stage demonstrations at key locations, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park, with the intent to cause widespread disruption.

“Sowore should surrender at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found,” the Commissioner warned. “Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law.”

Jimoh emphasized that the Command would not tolerate any actions capable of disrupting peace or infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens. He added that operatives had already been deployed across the state to forestall any breakdown of order and to ensure the free flow of movement for residents.

He assured Lagosians that the police were working closely with intelligence agencies to monitor activities of individuals and groups suspected of planning unlawful assemblies or protests.

The declaration comes amid growing tension over planned demonstrations by civil groups demanding government reforms and accountability, a movement Sowore has been widely associated with in recent years.
