Kabiru Turaki Submits Nomination Forms, Emerges Consensus Candidate for PDP National Chairmanship

Former Minister of Special Duties and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Turaki completed the submission on Monday at the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) Secretariat, Legacy House, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, Abuja, accompanied by close friends, political allies, and associates who came to show their support.

The development comes ahead of the party’s much-anticipated Elective National Convention, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Sources within the party indicate that Turaki has gained strong momentum among key stakeholders and is reportedly being adopted as the consensus candidate for the chairmanship position, reflecting a growing internal alignment around his candidacy.

Turaki’s emergence is expected to shape the dynamics of the convention, as the party prepares for a leadership transition aimed at strengthening its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, former Jigawa State Governor and ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Sule Lamido, who also signified interest in the position, reportedly encountered difficulties in obtaining his nomination forms, highlighting the increasingly competitive nature of the PDP’s internal politics.
