APC Using Intimidation to Silence Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections — Kenneth Okonkwo

Former National Officer of the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deploying intimidation tactics to weaken and disrupt opposition activities in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Okonkwo alleged that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he now represents, has faced a series of orchestrated attacks while holding meetings in different parts of the country.

“ADC is on fire. The only thing is that we have an APC that is using every method to intimidate and scatter the plans of the opposition,” Okonkwo said.

He cited recent incidents in Kaduna, Lagos, and Ekiti States, where ADC gatherings were allegedly disrupted by thugs reportedly acting under the supervision of security operatives. According to him, such actions amount to political persecution and run contrary to the Electoral Act, which guarantees equal protection and freedom of association for all political parties.

Okonkwo further accused the APC of manipulating state institutions to maintain control, warning that such tendencies threaten Nigeria’s democracy. Despite the alleged intimidation, he expressed optimism that the ADC would emerge victorious in the next election cycle.

“ADC is going to form the next government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said. “We are strategizing, and we are going to beat this APC. They are already imploding because all these endorsements are just an amalgamation of sycophants.”

The APC has yet to officially respond to the allegations.
