Osimhen’s Treble, Onyeka Strike Propel Super Eagles to 4–0 Destruction of Benin in Uyo

In a ruthless display of attacking football, Nigeria’s Super Eagles overwhelmed the Cheetahs of Benin Republic 4–0 in Uyo on Tuesday evening, breathing new life into their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes.

The hosts had made four changes from their win over Lesotho, with Wilfred Ndidi captaining the side and Moses Simon earning his 85th cap. Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams spearheaded the attack.

From the outset, Nigeria looked deadly. Osimhen opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, converting a fine cross from Samuel Chukwueze, and then doubled his tally in the 38th minute with another clinical finish. The Super Eagles entered the break with a commanding 2–0 lead.

Six minutes into the second half, Osimhen completed his hat-trick, sending Uyo into raptures as he emphatically asserted his dominance up front. Later in the game, Frank Onyeka put the gloss on a sensational night with a fourth goal, sealing a comprehensive victory.

This win not only sees Nigeria leapfrog Benin in the standings but also keeps their World Cup dreams alive.

Nigeria will now await the outcome of other group fixtures as they plot their path to qualification.
