Reno Omokri Blames U.S. for Nigeria’s Terrorism Crisis

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has accused the United States of being responsible for Nigeria’s prolonged terrorism crisis.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television, Omokri said the roots of insurgency in Nigeria and the wider Sahel region can be traced back to the foreign policy decisions of former U.S. President Barack Obama.

“There’s a moral responsibility on the United States because this problem of terrorism was brought to Nigeria’s doorstep by Barack Obama’s administration,” Omokri stated.

He argued that America’s intervention in Libya, which led to the death of Muammar Gaddafi, unleashed a wave of armed mercenaries who destabilized the region and fueled terrorism in Nigeria.

“If Obama’s administration hadn’t intervened in Libya, Gaddafi wouldn’t have been killed, and those foreign fighters wouldn’t have migrated south to Nigeria and the Sahel. The U.S. created this problem, and we are paying the price for something we didn’t cause,” he said.

Omokri, however, commended former U.S. President Donald Trump for later supporting Nigeria with military equipment, adding that Washington has a responsibility to help fix the crisis it helped create.
