Court Dismisses Suit Challenging Senator Natasha Uduaghan-Apoti’s Suspension

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the suspension of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Uduaghan-Apoti.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/654/2025, was instituted by Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others who sought to nullify the six-month suspension imposed on the senator for alleged misconduct. The plaintiffs argued that the suspension would shortchange their senatorial district at the National Assembly.

Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Omotosho held that the plaintiffs lacked the legal authority (locus standi) to challenge the Senate’s disciplinary action. He subsequently dismissed the case for lack of merit.
