PDP Accuses APC of Undermining Democracy, Cites Widespread Election Irregularities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of failing to uphold the spirit of democratic sportsmanship.

PDP’s National Chairman, Umar Damagun, made the allegation on Thursday during a meeting with the European Union Election Observation Follow-up Mission in Abuja.

According to him, recent elections have been riddled with irregularities allegedly perpetrated by the APC.

“Unfortunately, this spirit of democratic sportsmanship has not been matched by the ruling All Progressives Congress,” Damagun said.

He alleged that elections in the country continue to suffer from abuse of state resources and security agencies, as well as voter suppression, intimidation, vote-buying, and deliberate subversion of electoral processes.
