Abia’s Lone APC Lawmaker Dumps Party

UMUAHIA — The member representing Umuahia North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Anderson Akaliro, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing deepening internal crises and marginalization within the party.

Akaliro, who was the only APC lawmaker in the Assembly, announced his exit in a resignation letter addressed to the APC chairman in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

In the letter, the lawmaker lamented persistent factional disputes, lack of cohesive leadership, and alleged deliberate exclusion from party activities.

“I was not being invited to any meeting or event by the APC leadership in Abia, while the party is riddled with continuous suspensions and counter-suspensions,” he said.

Declaring his next political move, Akaliro stated that he would be aligning with the administration of Governor Alex Otti, which he described as “visionary and development-oriented.”

With his resignation, the APC has lost its only representation in the Abia State House of Assembly.
