PDP Blasts Akpabio-Led Senate, Demands Immediate Return of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

ABUJA — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned what it described as a deliberate attempt to bar Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, from resuming her duties in the National Assembly.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP faulted the reported directive by the Clerk of the National Assembly preventing Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return after serving a six-month suspension imposed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The party alleged that the move was part of a wider scheme by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Senate leadership to silence opposition voices and deny the people of Kogi Central proper representation in the Red Chamber.

“The PDP calls on the international community, democracy institutions, rights advocacy groups and other democracy development partners to rise up in condemnation of this renewed attack on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan,” the statement read.

The opposition party further demanded that the Senate leadership allow Akpoti-Uduaghan to immediately resume her constitutional responsibilities without hindrance.
