FG Summons Domestic Airlines Over Flight Disruptions, Unruly Passenger Incidents

ABUJA — The Federal Government has summoned all domestic airlines to an emergency meeting in Abuja following rising cases of flight disruptions and unruly passenger behaviour across the country.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) disclosed this on Tuesday in a post via the official X handle of its Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu.

According to him, the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at the NCAA headquarters, where key issues affecting the sector will be addressed.

“The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu confirmed.

He explained that discussions would focus on unruly passenger conduct, passenger handling protocols, and unresolved refund and compensation complaints, among other pressing matters.

The development comes barely 24 hours after Achimugu revealed that the regulatory authority had received a Federal Government mandate to begin “naming and shaming” airlines that delay or cancel flights without justification.

On Monday, the NCAA spokesman had also warned that sanctions would be imposed on airlines found culpable in cases of poor service delivery and persistent disruptions.

The move underscores mounting pressure on the aviation industry to improve service standards and restore passenger confidence amid growing dissatisfaction.
