ABUJA — Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has faulted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his prediction that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would finish third in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike dismissed El-Rufai’s political forecast as “flawed mathematics,” insisting that Tinubu is well on course for re-election.
“El-Rufai is my friend, but he failed in this mathematics. He goofed,” Wike said. “Since he knows Tinubu will come third, he should also provide who will be first and second.”
The minister went further to challenge El-Rufai to a wager on Tinubu’s chances, saying he is confident the president would secure victory in 2027.
“I will place a bet if El-Rufai agrees, if Tinubu doesn’t win the 2027 election securely,” Wike declared.
El-Rufai had recently stirred debate after claiming that Tinubu would not retain power beyond his current term, a statement that continues to draw sharp reactions within Nigeria’s political space.
