KADUNA — Former Governor of Osun State and pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has paid glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a patriotic leader whose legacy will endure for generations.
Akande, who led a delegation of political associates on a condolence visit to Buhari’s family in Kaduna on Wednesday, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former president.
“I first heard that he died when I was abroad. Before then, I met him in Daura after our feast. He was looking robust, healthy, and very strong,” Akande recalled.
The elder statesman said Buhari showed no signs of ill health during their last meeting, adding that the news of his death came as a shock.
“In a joke, I said I was going back to my village. He told me he was enjoying his village in Daura. When he later moved to Kaduna, I had planned to visit him here, and then I heard he had travelled,” he said with a heavy heart.
Akande eulogized the late president as “an angel in human flesh,” stressing that his leadership, patriotism, and service to the nation would forever remain a guiding light.
