Kwankwaso Won’t Work With APC — NNPP’s Buba Galadima

ABUJA — A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has ruled out any possibility of the party’s former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, joining forces with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the ongoing emirship tussle in Kano.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday, Galadima accused the federal government of meddling in Kano’s traditional institution by creating a parallel emirship structure.

“Why can’t we Nigerians look at issues dispassionately? How can Kwankwaso be a friend of the APC with what they are doing to us in Kano?” Galadima asked.

According to him, the federal government is backing one emir while the Kano State government supports another, a situation he described as unconstitutional and politically motivated.

“They appointed two emirs in one town. There is a federal government emir, and there is a state emir. Who has the responsibility to appoint the emir and pay their salary?” he queried.

Galadima further alleged that the federal government is propping up its preferred emir with heavy security cover.

“The federal government has their emir. They have not less than 40 pickup trucks filled with mobile police guarding their own emir. It’s a federal government appointee because it’s the Federal High Court that has ruled halfway to suggest so. I’m not making an accusation; I’m making a statement,” he said.

The NNPP stalwart insisted that under such circumstances, Kwankwaso would not consider any alliance with the APC.
