2027: I Have No Anointed Candidate — Gov Sule Dismisses Rumours

LAFIA — Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has debunked claims that he is secretly backing any of the 28 governorship aspirants jostling to succeed him in 2027, insisting he has no preferred candidate.

Speaking in Lafia on Thursday while hosting members of the Forum of Former Local Government Council Chairmen (FFLGCC) and the Forum of Former Local Government Councillors (FFLGC), Sule said his only concern is to support a candidate capable of sustaining his administration’s development agenda beyond 2027.

“If anybody tells you that I am supporting this person or that person, it’s just grammar,” the governor stated. “People are just telling their stories. At one time, they said I was supporting the Accountant General. Then they said it is Wadada. Later, they claimed it was Faisal. When you see people running back and forth like this, you know there’s no truth in it. It’s just speculation.”

Sule said Nasarawa State has enormous untapped potential and stressed that he would only endorse a successor with the vision and capacity to explore those opportunities for the benefit of the people.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes that have a direct and positive impact on residents.

Earlier, leaders of the visiting forums, Musa Adamu Sa’idu (FFLGCC) and Hashimu Abubakar (FFLGC), hailed the governor’s “sterling leadership” and inclusive governance style. They pledged continued loyalty and support for the success of his administration.
