Presidency Hits Back at Peter Obi: ‘His Claims Don’t Survive Forensic Analysis’

ABUJA — The Presidency has accused former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of spreading falsehoods in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television, where he took aim at opposition leaders for what he described as “unconstructive criticism” lacking in concrete policy alternatives.

“Opposition cannot come here and talk about malnutrition — you know why? They don’t have the ideas,” Bwala said. “Till today, the opposition has not come up with any policy issues to say, ‘President Tinubu is wrong; this is how it should be.’”

While acknowledging that Obi comes “closest” among opposition figures to discussing policy matters, Bwala accused him of routinely making inaccurate claims.

“Unfortunately, Peter Obi is doing ‘catch and carry.’ Whenever you subject what he says to forensic analysis, it always comes out as falsehood,” he stated.

Bwala’s comments add to the growing war of words between the Tinubu administration and opposition leaders, as political tensions continue to heat up ahead of the 2027 elections.
