Bayern Munich Seal €75 Million Signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool

Bayern Munich have officially announced the signing of Colombian forward Luis Diaz from Liverpool in a deal reportedly worth up to €75 million ($86.5 million), securing the highly-rated winger on a contract until 2029.

The 28-year-old arrives in Bavaria after a trophy-laden spell at Anfield, where he lifted the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup. Diaz played a key role in Liverpool’s success last season, contributing 17 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions as the Reds secured their 20th English league title.

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen welcomed the arrival, describing Diaz as “one of the best left wingers in the Premier League.”

“He brings real character and winning mentality from Liverpool to FC Bayern,” Dreesen said. “He has collected silverware at every club he’s played for, and we’re confident he will make a big impact in Munich.”

Diaz expressed his excitement about joining the German champions, calling the move a major milestone in his career.

“I’m very happy to be part of FC Bayern,” Diaz said. “This is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to contribute my playing style and passion to help the team achieve great things. My goal is to win every possible title, and we will work hard together every day to reach that.”

The timing of the deal is significant for Bayern, who are dealing with the long-term absence of Jamal Musiala. The German international is sidelined with a broken leg and dislocated ankle sustained at the Club World Cup, leaving a void in Bayern’s attacking setup.

Diaz’s exclusion from Liverpool’s recent 4-2 friendly defeat against AC Milan in Hong Kong had fueled speculation about his departure. With the transfer now confirmed, the Colombian is set to begin a new chapter in the Bundesliga as Bayern look to reinforce their dominance both domestically and in Europe.

The move marks one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer window and underlines Bayern’s intent to compete at the highest level following a transitional 2024/25 campaign.
