A group of All Progressives Congress (APC) members on Monday staged a protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, calling for the immediate removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
The protesters, reportedly mobilized from all 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, carried placards bearing inscriptions such as “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership.”
Chanting solidarity songs and expressing their grievances, the demonstrators accused the current party leadership of poor coordination and internal mismanagement. They called for urgent reforms in the state chapter of the APC ahead of future political engagements.
A significant number of security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force were stationed around the Assembly complex to maintain order and ensure the protest did not escalate into violence or disrupt public peace.
As of press time, neither the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly nor the APC state executive had issued an official response to the protest.
The development highlights growing internal tensions within the Lagos APC as the party prepares for key political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
