Abuja, Nigeria Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged to intensify infrastructural development in Abuja, stating that the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will continue to frustrate its critics.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), as well as other roads within the Katampe District of the Federal Capital Territory. The projects were formally inaugurated by President Tinubu.
Addressing dignitaries and residents at the event, the FCT Minister described the growing dissatisfaction among Tinubu’s opponents as a sign that the administration’s efforts are yielding positive results.
“Sometimes, I don’t know — spiritually I was touched. I turned on the TV and saw people in pain. I didn’t realise before, but now I know: some people are truly pained by the good things happening,” Wike said.
In a tone mixing humour with defiance, Wike added, “I now must make sure I continue to give them high blood pressure. As they continue to be in pain, it’ll be sweetening us — and that has now become my job.”
The former Rivers State governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for supporting transformative infrastructure projects in the FCT, describing the current efforts as part of a broader “revolution” in governance and development.
“With the president’s backing, I’ll keep working, keep commissioning, and keep delivering. Let them shout. We’ll be busy building,” he added.
The newly commissioned roads are expected to ease traffic flow and enhance connectivity across key districts in the nation’s capital.
